Carefree Days
By Money Sick | April 16, 2011
Life is so hard. Everybody in the house refused to help one another. They are more concerned about the computer than anything else…
I feel like giving up. I lost all motivation living in such kind of environment where everybody is so lifeless and listless. Nobody bother about picking up rubbish even! It is like living in a slum! The head of the house claimed that money is easy to earn, telling me lots of money making opportunities on the internet. However, since money is so easy to earn, he is ‘working hard’ all day long facing the computer, and shouting and yelling at people… “No money for you!” , “I have no money la!” , “This thing can earn money isn’t?” , “How much can you earn from this?” and so on and on. Everything is about money. I am just really MONEY SICK, Sick of this issue of Money.
14 April 2011, went to NTUC to buy grocery (vegetables, fishballs, etc — food for the fridge). He was not at all happy… It was a devastating day for me. It is so easy to give up. It is so easy to ‘escape’ from the issues and ‘push responsibilities’, diverting everything to the ”computer”, and just let the woman handle everything… the woman has to take care of everything in the household and answer for any problems that might arise then. And what about the man? “I don’t need to earn money har?” But what did the eyes see?
I am not paid to look after kids, I am not paid to do housework. This kind of life just let me think more of my carefree childhood…
The uppermost photograph shows one of the pages of my photo album. It showed two photographs taken from Punggol. This photograph above shows the closer view of me and my mother standing in front the yellow car at Punggol. Mother was so well-dressed. Those were really my carefree days. Father got car/pick-up/lorry and we could go anywhere at anytime. When we met people/neighbours on the street, mother always smile at them. She is always such a polite person and everywhere she goes, she can get along well with anybody.
“去哪里啊?” (“Where are you going?”) people would ask, and my mother would say, “吃风。” ( “eat wind” meaning to go sightseeing in the car). Gone are the days where I see my father reading Chinese newspaper, glancing through used cars for sale (vendita auto usate) and mother plucking vegetables at home.
The Tower of Babel
15 April 2011 (yesterday), I dreamed of the pope flying in the sky, just beside the moon. The pope was wearing his small little circular hat, wearing purple in one moment and appearing red in the next moment. I saw him through the roof top. He was ‘patrolling’ in the sky. When I saw him, he was surprised that I could see him. I waved to him and he waved back to me in return (hesitating at first — since I was not supposed to see him). Just then, something happened on my left hand side. Something was changed. Until now, I do not know what was the ‘magic’.
Today is the birthday of Pope Benedict XVI (born Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger on 16 April 1927), who was elected on 19 April 2005 in a papal conclave, celebrated his Papal Inauguration Mass on 24 April 2005, and took possession of his cathedral, the Basilica of St. John Lateran, on 7 May 2005…
And the Lord said,”See, they are all one people and have all one language; and this is only the start of what they may do. Now it will not be possible to keep them from any purpose of theirs. Come, let us go down and take away the sense of their language, so that they will not be able to make themselves clear to one another.” So the Lord God scattered them into every part of the earth, and they gave up building their town… (Genesis 11:6)
Language has caused barrier to human communication. For example this italian website for buy and sell car: auto usate milano or http://www.garagedelparco.com has been in business since 1978 with experience and professionalism, always attentive to the needs and customer satisfaction. At first glance, I was not able to understand a single word from the site. However, looking at the photographs and numbers, I was able to guess something about the website — about cars or car sales. My mother could not read any English or Chinese words. This is like me looking at the Italian website. It has no meaning to me at all at first. But luckily, on the internet, translation is readily available (http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.garagedelparco.com&sl=it&tl=en) and I could know what the website is ‘talking about’.
Isaac likes cars so much. At home, he has so many toy cars. He is always delighted about cars. Yesterday, at Sengkang, Compass Point, he was attracted by the new car road show. We had to travel a long journey in order to reach Punggol (having several transfers). Singapore is said to be a small country. Without the use of transport, it is so difficult to travel from one end of the country to another end. Though taking the public transport is much cheaper, there are lots of inconveniences. The best is really to buy used cars, compro auto usate, especially from a trustworthy company like Garage Del Parco — Efficiency, competence and thoroughness are their trump cards to continue to offer service and assistance, safe, guaranteed and worthy of trust.
