Maid Or No Maid
By Money Sick | November 17, 2007
Just called Tini again and also my father. They are people who are left alone at home when the rest of the family members are enjoying themselves in Korea.
Good Maid Hard To Come By: Good Training From the Part of Employer, Good Attitude from Maid = Good Maid
Tini is a good maid. Her mum is not around, and she behaves herself. She answers the phone with greetings and she is polite. She is very jovial in her telephone conversation with me. Such are the right kind of attitude a maid should have. However, she might not be working long with her present employer. She had re-contract with my sister-in-law this year. Prior to that, she went home for a week. Now that she is back, she told me, she might be working for a year only. During her absence, Vanessa missed her. She cried. Her mother often goes China to work, but she did not cry. That is a common scenario in Singapore. Children grow more attached to the maid or grandparents when the parents are busy at work. Several years back, I saw that in Clara. She learned habits, values, attitudes and almost everything from the maid. I do not like that. Having a maid is not a luxury. It is merely a necessity in those days. I would not want to continue that kind of life and when Richard was back, I quit my job.
Maid’s attitude: High Pay and respect —> Maid with High-self esteem —> Happier Maid
I had seen homes with a few maids and I had come across homes with a maid and no maid. Big homes with a few maids, small homes with a few maids. Big homes with a maid and small homes with a maid. So many varieties you can think of. Living in Singapore, maid is not a luxury at all, consider the levy PLUS the maid salary. The salary of the maid is lesser than the levy, can you imagine that! Very ridiculous and that is things we need to accept as I had just written at Peaceinspire.com, about Singapore, Everything want to be the first. No wonder it is so rich, but the citizens are all ‘sucking’ dry from it. They understand the fact that the gap between the rich and the poor is getting big. They always talked as though they care so much, and they will give you some money at appropriate time to zip your mouth. That is a more civilized and cultured way of bribery. Afterall, whose money are these? Do some markings on your money. Spent it and see if they come back to you.
Have maid means you are rich?
For the very rich, they can have maids, but for the poor, to survive, they have to have maid(s) to look after their children and the elderly at home. Want more women to go out to work, want more children? Want population to increase? Show us why there should be good reasons to bring more children to this world. Show us what kind of good life the children-to-be can deserved.
Who Is The Owner?
Maid is not dog’s owner, Maid is not children’s mother. The car does not belong to the maid either. Yet the maid who receive so little pay as compared to any other people(even the rag-and-bone man) earn so little but DO EVERYTHING!
I Choose Price Than Prize
Maid or no maid? I choose no maid. I choose to look after the children myself. I choose to give up my job(s). I choose to do what I am doing now and who I want to be with. I have no regrets about everything and anything, not at all. I am living a life that everyday I am doing what I ought to do, my conscience is clear and I fulfilled all my obligations. That suffice and that is achieving peace of mind.
