Something which people might think of is that for working at home, I am very free. This is absolutely not true. Working at home means that you have to work doubly hard, harder than any other people if you want to achieve results and if you want to survive.
Today I was so busy with my work online and at the same time I need to make sure that the children did their work. Teaching, working online, and having to play the part of disciplining the children really made my adrenalin pumping. I had to rush for so many things for I know that time is money and I have deadlines to meet and responsibilities and commitments to fulfill. When Vanessa came to ask me what was I doing, I answered that I was working. She again giggled and said,”Don’t lie, you playing games!” She just could not believe that I was working just because I was at home. This is the normal mindset of most people, not only children.
Working at home means that all the overheads like electrical bills, paper, computer maintenance, stationeries and so on, everything will be borne by our own. If I am sick, I have to pay medical fees myself. No medical reimbursement, no medical benefits nor insurance coverage. I work I get paid. No work, no money. Working at home, you are your own boss. You have control of your own time and own working pace. That does not mean that people who work at home is very free.
People who work from home must always save money. I do not spend money on unnecessary things. Vanessa saw me hand-washing my clothes in the balcony and collecting water from the washing machine at the same time. She was amazed. She wondered why I was doing that. I explained to her. Today, Valerie told me my rooms are very dusty. I admitted. It is a fact. I did not deny and I know it. Everyday I can see dust on the surfaces of shelves. Well, who do not like to live in spick and span house? I told Vanessa she was lucky to have a maid to help them, but I had no maid to help me. I cannot afford to have a maid.
To save money, people working from home should have video conferencing too. Depending on what you are working, video conferencing can help you to save money on transport as well as your precious time. Video conferencing is getting popular nowadays. They are used by various people in different industries. For me, video conferencing is helpful for me to communicate with advertisers. It is also useful when I need to hold meetings with family members or business people who are abroad — just like my sister-in-law.
Working at home is all about saving money, increase your productivity and efficiency. You have to have a clear mind with your goals and determination planned ahead.
